May the Force Be With Them: Scientists Fight Back




SARS-CoV-2 started in Wuhan in late 2019. After several waves swept through the world and left millions of people dead, the world is now entering the endemic phase. The scars that COVID-19 have left behind, however, are very fresh and very deep. Leaders in government, science, and medicine, along with the general public, must work together to heal, and to make sure that these scars do not turn into a cancer that eventually kills humanity.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) governs China by controlling every aspect of people’s lives. When SARS-CoV-2 emerged in Wuhan in December 2019, the CCP was in a celebratory mood. It planned to showcase its economic achievements and celebrate the Chinese New Year with huge banquets. No virus should have dared to come to spoil the party. TikTok Quietly Updated Privacy Policy to Collect Faceprints and Voiceprints

TikTok, one of the most downloaded apps of 2021 so far, decided to quietly update its privacy policy to collect biometric identifiers and biometric information know in the US as faceprints and voiceprints. The trendy app, owned by the Chinese internet technology company ByteDance, added a new section to its privacy policy called ‘Image and Audio Information.’ With the bold move, the Beijing-based company can now automatically collect those new types of biometric data. According to the updated privacy policy, the data will be used for non-personally-identifying operations such as enabling special video effects, content moderation, demographic classification, and ad recommendations. A businessman has been charged in connection with a $82.5 million cocaine discovery

  ST JAMES, Jamaica — Oral Johnson, 43, of Garden District, Westmoreland, who was arrested on April 26, 2022, following the seizure of approximately 24 pounds of cocaine in Coral Gardens, Montego Bay, St James, is now charged. On Tuesday, May 3, Johnson was formally interviewed in the presence of his attorney, after which he was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine, and trafficking cocaine. According to the circumstances, the accused was driving a car when it was stopped by police in the Coral Gardens area of St James on Tuesday, April 26. During a vehicle search, cocaine with an estimated street value of $550,000 (or $82.5 million) was discovered and seized. Johnson was then detained on reasonable suspicion of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act. He was formally charged yesterday as a result of the subsequent investigation.
