Russia Bombs 'Nitric Acid Tank' At Severodonetsk Chemical Plant: Governor

The local governor said Tuesday that Russian forces struck a tank containing nitric acid at a chemical plant in Ukraine's eastern city of Severodonetsk that they are attempting to seize. According to the governor of the Lugansk region, Sergiy Gaiday, an air strike by Moscow forces "hit a tank with nitric acid at a chemical plant." "Nitric acid is hazardous if inhaled, swallowed, or comes into contact with the skin," he added. "Do not leave the shelters!" Gaiday stated. He asked the city's remaining residents to "prepare protective face masks impregnated with soda solution" after days of fierce fighting.

The tank "exploded" on territory controlled by Ukrainian forces, according to pro-Moscow separatist authorities.

"A container containing chemicals was blown up at the Azot chemical plant." "It's nitric acid, for the time being," Rodion Mironchik, a representative of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic, said on Telegram.

He claimed that the plant's territory was under Ukrainian control.

According to Ukrainian officials, advancing Moscow forces now control half of Severodonetsk, a key goal for the Russian army.
