Public health officials in England have confirmed 36 new cases of monkeypox, bringing the total number of known infections in the UK to 57.
Efforts to contain the outbreak are ongoing, with patients being isolated in hospitals or at home, and close contacts being advised to isolate and avoid contact with vulnerable people such as young children, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems for up to three weeks.
The most vulnerable contacts have been offered the smallpox vaccine Imvanex, which provides cross-protection against monkeypox, a much milder disease, and is effective for up to two weeks after virus exposure. SOURCE
