JCF confirms that a cop was hurt in the shootout that killed St. Ann's most wanted man and another man.

The police have confirmed that one of their officers was injured in a shootout with criminal elements on Saturday in St Ann.

According to a release from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary Force's communications arm, the policeman was injured during the gun battle that claimed the life of one of St Ann's most wanted. A status update on the officer's condition is expected soon.

According to reports, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday, members of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) led authorities to a section of the North-South Highway, where they intercepted a white Toyota Crown motorcar.

When the cops approached, the men in the car immediately began firing at them, resulting in a gunfight, according to the CCU.

"In the end, we believe two of the men were shot and injured." The injured were taken to a hospital in St Ann, where the two men died while receiving treatment," said Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, Head of the CCU.

Manton Brown, 42, also known as 'Banton,' has been identified as one of the shooters.

Brown was wanted in several murder and shooting cases, including the double murder of Alaska Castello and Adrian Thompson in Gregory Park, St Catherine, in April 2017. He was also wanted for the murders of Clifford Gallimore, also known as 'Chucky' or 'King Cover,' in Brown's Town, St Ann in September 2020 and Leabert Piper in February 2021.

During the operation, a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized, according to SSP Lindsay.
